| Across from Parque Nacional El Palmar (Palm Grove National Park) a wildlife refuge awaits called Refugio de Vida Silvestre La Aurora del Palmar. This private reserve features many of the unique topographic and natural wonders of the National Park with added delights.
La Aurora del Palmar encompasses over 3000 acres, 500 of which display a well-preserved forest of mature palm trees. This refuge is the largest remaining area of Yatay palms (Butia yatay) outside the National Park. Alongside these palms, a sampling of “gallery forest” follows the “Arroyo El Palmar” (El Palmar Creek) with xerophilous woods, large areas of wild grasslands, and natural ponds. This estate is also home to several autochthonous bird species.
Due to its ecological importance and native biodiversity, this private property has been a “Wildlife Refuge” since 1998 as sanctioned by the “Fundacion Vida Silvestre Argentina,” which is the local chapter of the “World Wildlife Federation.” A wildlife refuge is a privately owned land of considerable ecological value whose owner agrees to preserve nature through the sustainable use of its natural resources. La Aurora del Palmar is one of only 13 such refuges in Argentina and the only one in the Province of Entre Rios. Also, in November 2001, the property was declared by law a “Provincial Wildlife Reserve.”
The Wildlife Refuge La Aurora del Palmar is open to visitors of all ages to experience the unique landscape of this area through ecotourism, and to come into contact with nature in a relaxed and professional way.
La Aurora del Palmar offers top-level facilities and services including lodging, food, and activities that complement the National Park El Palmar.
If you are visiting from abroad, come and experience Argentina at its best and take home unforgettable memories that might be the highlight of your trip.
